Singapore Idol..

Is it me or are the judges really fickle minded?
First they tell Mathilda not to be a ’show off’ with her (in my opinion) fantastic diva voice, they tell her she’s not singing as ‘herself’, that she’s just doing it the way Shirley Bassey does it.
Oi, Shirley Bassey not easy to sing ok? You want heartland rendition of it, or some sugar coated Hillary Duff version? sigh..
Then next up, Hadi.. singing Rock DJ by Robbie Williams. They tell him ‘don’t hold back’ and that if he’s gonna sing Robbie Williams he has to go wild like Robbie. What happened to asking the contestants to be themselves?
Wah lao.
I am very confused by this competition. The judges .. the music.. the contestants.
Ok I haven’t really been watching. I have to go to work halfway through the show and I only get a taste of each singer when I see little clips of them singing the next day in an ad..
I think Gayle and Nurul are damn cute.
Mathilda has a helluva voice which doesn’t need Singapore Idol to make famous.
I hope Rahimah gets more rock.. I like rock. heh
Haven’t heard the others proper so I can’t say much. Johnathan used to sing in Wala so yeah I know that voice and that confidence, I think he’ll go really far in the competition but I don’t think he looks like Takeshi leh.. this Channel 5 ah…anyhow one!
Paul the one eyed boy ( cos his hair covers the other) just became Paul the no eyes boy .. quirky guy on TV and he’s got the best diction so far.
That cute cute little Gomez.. so cuuuuuute. Must form boyband for him.
Jay Lim looked dangerous last night. I thought he was gonna slit my throat, pull out my fingernails, drain my blood..all in a calm anc collective manner, while singing that song and raising those eyebrows.. eeek.
Can’t remember the rest at the moment. This entry sucks….
Spunkymonkee is grateful for the sun. Vitamin D is good for you!

July 13th, 2006 at 2:41 pmYup, fickle-pickle judges.
I thought it was a really bad idea to start the final 12 competition with “parent’s pick”. Goldfinger? My Funny Valentine? Bad idea for the folks to pick songs that their kids never really grooved to. Sounded like bad karaoke. No wonder almost every contestant got the “bad song choice” comment.
*gasp*
Well, need some good stuff to purge the tunes in my head. See you at MM tomorrow.

August 4th, 2006 at 6:30 pmYeh, I agree! So bloody contradictory man! But at least Ken Lim has a consistent standard of judging. That man doesn’t mess around and mince his words. And I think mathilda and rahimah rock man! And (i want tickets to your concert. hahah just kidding.)
